Social Skills

This group is designed to help your 10-12 year olds master social skills so they can interact and feel positive about their social connections! This class will discuss finding what makes good friends, continuing to build communication skills (such as making eye contact, reading body language, using good voice tone, and other assertive communication needs), learning more about personal space, and setting boundaries within them. We also spend time talking about empathy and advocating for others who may need some help standing up to negative social experiences, such as bullying. Your child can look forward to making some crafts that tie into what they're learning each week and meaningful games to help put their learning into action!

Through interactive games, children explore their feelings, fostering learning and empathy along the way. Your child will gain a better understanding of their feelings through mindful activities and play, using glitter bottles, making playdough, and creating a “Feelings Monster”!

Our friendship group focuses on the primary skills young kids need to start making meaningful connections with their peers. This interactive group curriculum focuses on several aspects that can help your child begin to find the base for their social skills. Some of the material in this class covers: identifying what makes a good friend in others as well as themselves, delving into communication basics like eye contact, reading body language, and understanding voice tone; and assertive communication needs, such as learning more about personal space and empathy for others. Some of the fun activities your child can look forward to are creating a friendship potion, making an empathy bracelet, and engaging in a variety of interactive games and stories!

This group aims to help teenagers understand the way their brains respond to social media, in positive and negative ways. This course provides several opportunities for teens to explore behaviors that can fulfill the same needs as social media and practice them as a group.

Balancing Social Media (Parents)

  • Single-day Workshop
  • $25 per parent

Thursday, June 20th 6:00 - 8:00pm

This group gives parents insight into what makes social media so appealing, especially for teens. This class is designed for parents whose teens attend the social media group as a tandem learning experience, but can also be a great standalone class for you to understand it on a deeper level, as well! You can look forward to learning more about the neuroscience of what makes social media fulfilling, knowing more about what activities meet those needs for your child that aren't connected to screens, and setting boundaries with screens in healthy ways.
