Kelci Beus, CMHC, RPT - Clinical Director

I was born and raised in North Ogden. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to return to my hometown and to give back to the community through my work here, and make it a priority to do this.  I am trained to work with individuals, families, and children. My passion truly lies in providing therapy for children. I believe that the more tools and self-understanding that we provide kids with during their development, the more able they are to face life’s challenges and be a positive part of society. I think that parents and caregivers are essential for positive changes, and also work closely with them in session at times. I have experience working with children that have experienced trauma, behavioral disorders, and the foster care system.

Part of what led me on the path of becoming a therapist was my time working at the Center for Grieving Children in Ogden. I got to facilitate groups geared toward helping children understand emotions and changes in their lives. This sparked my interest in helping kids and families feel more comfortable with emotions and their function. For my graduate internship, I worked at an elementary school with a School Psychologist in Washington state. This gave me insight into how the school system impacts children at various levels of development. I also found how important it is to consider the child individually and how to tailor the needs to them throughout this process. I facilitated individual and group therapy at the school, primarily focusing on social skills and other academic challenges.

After completing my graduate studies, I worked at a Play Therapy counseling agency in Idaho for about a year. Throughout that experience, it affirmed my passion for what I do. The general idea of Play Therapy is that while children can’t verbalize some things (like hard experiences or feelings), play becomes the language and the toys become the words. I watched this come into action time and time again and loved the insight that I saw in sessions but also what I learned each time it happened. I knew that this is what I wanted to bring back “home” with me so I could impact my community.

My therapeutic approach is rather eclectic working with individuals and groups, utilizing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), behavioral and existential theory. I believe in using a solution-oriented approach to help alleviate symptoms and gaining insight into what can be done more positively. I have training in play therapy and enjoy facilitating play therapy with children of all ages as a registered play therapist in Utah. I enjoy the flexibility and dynamic that play introduces into my work. I have completed Expressive Sandtray Therapy training, as this will enhance my play therapy skills further. I have also completed training in Autplay, which is specifically designed for children and teens with neurodevelopmental diagnoses, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

When I am not in the office, I enjoy spending time outside with my family, seeing movies, eating ice cream, and have a passion for running as a stress reliever. You may also catch me talking about Harry Potter or Marvel movies, the Utah Jazz, and Washington State University football with my time off.  I am a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (Utah License 10822128-6004). I am a Registered Play Therapist (Registration Number: T5833) and a member of the Utah Association for Play Therapy. Additionally, I hold a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from Washington State University and my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Weber State University.

Tenille Sealy, LCSW

I have always loved helping others.  When I decided to become a social worker my mom said that she always knew that is what I would become.  My passion is working with children of all ages.

I love spending time helping children identify their own strengths and how to use those strengths to overcome the challenges they are facing.  My favorite thing about working with children is being creative and playing while building skills for managing behaviors and emotions, expressing needs and healing from trauma.  I use a combination of CBT, mindfulness and experiential activities to help clients build on their own strengths and add new skills.

I got my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work at Utah State University.  I have worked for the last 7 years in a community mental health agency.  While there I ran children’s groups (which included children ages 4-16) and worked to coordinate care in the local elementary schools.

In my free time I enjoy playing the piano, camping or hanging out with my family.  I love baking and spending time in my yard and community.  I also enjoy attending local plays and music performances and watching my four boys play their cellos, violins, drums, guitars and our piano.  As you can imagine, my house is a little loud.  We spend a lot of time at Bear Lake sailing, fishing and beach combing with my family and my dogs.

Kasidi Parkinson, ACMHC

I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work with a minor in Criminal Justice from the University of North Dakota and a Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology from Arizona State University. I have experience working in a domestic violence shelter and Utah’s Division of Child and Family Services. My professional experience has prepared me to work with diverse populations and family dynamics.

Outside of work I enjoy reading. The genres I mainly enjoy are High Fantasy and Classics. I also enjoy writing.

Taylor Herzer, CSW

I recognized the importance of therapy and mental health care while I was in high school. I had a lot of friends and family members who struggled in secret; afraid to open the door to therapy and be vulnerable. From then on, I wanted to be the person that created a comfortable environment for anyone to communicate their mental health concerns, and reach out for help. My personal, educational, and professional experiences have helped me develop many meaningful skills that allow me to do just that.

I have a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Utah, and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Utah State University. I have experience working with teens engaging in court-ordered treatment and students from Ogden School District providing therapy in the school setting. I have learned the importance of creating a therapeutic relationship with my clients, beginning where the child is at, utilizing communication skills, providing second chances, and creating safe spaces with effective support systems.

My passion centers around helping individuals, families, and communities reach their goals and achieve their full potential. I have worked with children for most of my life, it has been incredible to witness their abilities to grow not only in a therapy setting, but in their connection to others and to themselves. In my work with children, I can help them increase their emotional intelligence, build resilience, and develop tools they need to thrive later in life. I have worked with a variety of diagnoses including depression, anxiety, grief, ADHD, and more.

I currently have completed training in trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy, and have completed courses in trauma care, CBT, and DBT. I am working on further training in play therapy and sand tray therapy. I use many different approaches in a therapy setting. I have experience using CBT, acceptance and commitment therapy, and solution-focused therapy. I believe it is important to cater my approach according to the needs of the person in front of me.

Outside of the work setting I enjoy spending time with my dogs and other loved ones, reading, going on adventures outdoors, and crocheting.

Nick Call, LCSW

I always knew that my dream was to return home after school, to the community where I grew up, and serve that community in the best way I knew how - to impact the stigma of mental health and help others find their greatest strengths. I came to this work by way of personal and professional evolution. I am in recovery. I have also experienced mental illness. Both have stigmas. Both suck. And both have helped me find deep levels of peace, serenity, and grace. My goal is to help you find the ways mental illness (and addiction) can motivate, strengthen, and guide you.

I believe that to truly see change in how we feel and act within our world, we have to engage from the roots. This is why I focus on helping you heal rather than teaching you skills. Helping you face fears and address obstacles like panic, shame, pain, guilt, and inadequacy is one of my favorite parts of the work we will do. These obstacles drain mental energy and cloud thinking. You don’t have to face these obstacles alone. I believe that our greatest asset is our capacity to embrace everything that life has to offer - the good, the bad, and everything in between. I think that adversity can be a brilliant teacher if we’re willing to be taught.

While I’m trained to provide therapy to individuals, couples, and families, I specialize in the treatment of trauma and the complex and resistant triggers and symptoms associated with that trauma. I practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is about understanding the connection between how you think, how you feel, your physical symptoms, and how you act at the present time. I am also trained in helping you uncover unconscious drives that come from your past. Our work together will move fluidly between the past and present so you can create a future that is fulfilling, meaningful, and intentional.

In our sessions, I'll show you how to be vulnerable and genuine by being that way myself. I'll laugh at your jokes. You can show me your favorite dog video or Star Wars meme before we start. You're as likely to find me sitting back in my leather chair wearing jeans and flannel as sitting perfectly poised in slacks and a tie. (Okay, who am I kidding? Much more likely.)  And then we'll get down to the hard work. Because therapy is hard work, for both of us. But it's also rewarding, fulfilling, life-giving work. I can't wait to share that with you. I bring all of me into my work. I am present and transparent, often reflecting personal examples that may illuminate a place where you are feeling stuck or to help you feel less isolated. Given this, if you're looking for a 'blank slate' therapist, we are probably not a good fit. I am right there with you.

I am the owner and Executive Clinical Director at Tree of Life Counseling Center and Children’s Center.  I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (Utah License 8573900-3501) and spend most of my days seeing clients and interacting with people in the office.  In addition to being a psychotherapist, I’m also an Assistant Clinical Professor and Field Instructor at several local universities such as Utah State University, Boise State University, Rocky Vista University and the University of Utah.  I currently serve on the Weber State University Department of Social Work Community Advisory Council and the Weber Communities That Care Coalition. For three years, I worked as a Unit Clinician at Highland Ridge Hospital and Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City. I provided individual, family and group therapy in a residential setting for emotionally disturbed adolescents, many of whom presented with dual diagnosis and co-morbid psychiatric disorders.

I also worked as a Clinical Associate at Lifestone Counseling Center and Best Practice Counseling in Salt Lake City, where I learned how to help teenagers and young adults who had experienced significant trauma and adverse childhood experiences relieve their symptoms associated with those experiences.

Taneil Liljenquist, SSW - Program Manager

I am passionate about teaching new skills to children in fun and creative ways. I believe that the best learning happens through play and experiences. I believe that children are inherently good and parents love their children.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Utah State University and have dedicated my career to helping strengthen children and families. I spent the first 5 years of my career serving children and parents at a local non-profit as the director of the child abuse shelter and respite center. During my time there, I ran parenting groups and classes and developed and implemented a trauma-informed program for children between the ages of 0-11.

I am currently teaching classes to children and teens in a lively and fun group environment focusing on social skills, emotional intelligence and regulation, building resilience and stress management. I look forward to expanding the program to include parent groups and workshops.

In my free time I enjoy traveling, camping, biking and adventuring with my husband and three children.
